Best herbs for health are always free in nature. Herbs and spices are the most common things that we all used in the kitchen and interestingly they have many health benefits, but most of the time we don’t really care about all the health facts that we get from herbs and spice.

Spices and herbs come mostly from parts of plants. We get them from seeds, flowers, barks, leaves, fruits and roots.

I, personally love adding spices to my food and delicacy. It provides flavour, scent and vibrant colour. But curiously, the facts that they have so much impact on our health.

Fascinatingly, spices and herbs are rich in anti-oxidants, they are anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and presence of a few vitamins and minerals.

They are calorie free and needs no special preparation. Just add a spoon full to your food and you’re ready to go.

1. Turmeric:

 

Turmeric is one of my favourite spice. I love its colour, flavour and texture. It is used in so many purposes. Besides cooking it is used for the facial mask, skin treatment, in treating cold and cough, anti-bacterial and antiseptic.

Health benefits of turmeric in daily purposes:

1. For a sore throat, cold and cough:

Take a teaspoon of turmeric and add it to a glass of warm milk. Instead of using sugar, add a teaspoon of honey to the milk. Drink this mixture after breakfast. It relieves sore throat, cold and cough.

2. For relieving joint pains and bruises:

Take 4-5 tablespoon of turmeric in a pot and boil it with a glass of water till a paste is formed. Apply this hot/warm paste to the bruises area as well as to the joints and leave till it’s dry.

Remove the dry turmeric with lukewarm water. Repeat this process till bruises disappear. This method relieves joint pains in old people too.

2. Siam Weed:

This herb has many common names but popularly people think it’s a weed! It is also known as Christmas bush, devil weed, and camphor grass. Chromolaena odorata (aka Eupatorium odorata) is the botanical name of the plant.

It is native to Myanmar and was first found in Queensland.

Traditionally it has been used in North East India for it’s healing property and many of our ancestral believe that it was first introduced to North East India, during the second world war.

1. Prevent and heal diarrhoea: 

Siam weeds prevent and heal diarrhoea faster than most medicines.

Take few siam weed leaves and grind them with a glass of water. Drink this liquid to prevent and heal diarrhoea. You can add lemon juice too.

In case of minor cuts and emergency, Siam weed leaves can be used to cover wounds to stop bleeding immediately.

Crush the leaves and apply on wounded parts to stop bleeding. It also has the property to heal wound faster.

Take freshly cut ginger and dip it in a glass of lukewarm water for 5 mins. Used this water as a drink to reduce inflammation and stomach problem.

Ginger water is actually very good for health; you can drink it every day before a meal. It reduces belly fats too.

Ginger is known to reduce nausea and motion sickness.
Take a slice of ginger and have it, if you suffer from nausea and morning sickness. This will greatly reduce the problem caused by motion sickness and nausea.

 What you need:

What you need: 

Take 3-5 cloves of garlic and deep fry it in mustard oil. Allow the oil to cool down for a few minutes.

A person with low BP should not use garlic; however, it will be very beneficial for a person with high BP, as garlic reduce high blood pressure.
