What is the Best Herb for pain relief?

Turmeric, ginger?; clove or blue lettuce?.

Well, to begin with; I grew up in a village as a child and I hate medicines. My family members knew this and so does few of my ‘thick friends’; that I don’t take medication at all; not until I felt like I’m going to die.

However, just last year; my ‘wisdom tooth’ was coming out and it’s bitterly painful!; and for the first time in my life, I took pain killers! and guess what?. I have acid reflux for the whole week!

It was at this crucial time, that I start asking my parents; if there is such herb or fruits that have natural pain killers in them. Herbs that they might be knowing, in their times while growing up.

At this point, my mother told me something that she learned from my ‘Grandfather’; who happened to be a local herbal medicines giver but sadly he passed away one month before I was born and I don’t even have the chance to meet him.

My parents give me a peek, into the world of my grandfathers. Both my grandfathers are into medicines. My paternal grandfather is a certified medical practitioner and my maternal grandfather is a herbal practitioner.

It is through them; (with parents help) that I learn so much about plants and herbs, much more than I’ve learned in my college and being a Botany graduate; I’m quite taken by herbs and it’s remedied.

I love learning about natural remedies. If nature can fix something I’ll go to her first. I’d not heard of your favourite one – Indian Frankincense. Other than pain relief do you use it for anything else?

    1. Hi Karletta; no I haven’t used it in any other purposes; except for my toothache and joint pain. I used it for joint pain and black bruises that happens to me during winters and this time around; I’m glad I did not suffer from any joint pain.
